Rotary Names May 2022 Students of the Month

May 5th, 2022 The Windsor/ Windsor Locks Rotary Club honored 2 students, Taylor Andrews is a senior at East Granby High School and Joshua Bell is a senior at CREC Academy Aerospace and Engineering High School in Windsor, were honored as Rotary Students of the Month for May.

Taylor Andrews is a senior at East Granby High School. She was sponsored by her teacher, Nicole Jones who spoke about Taylor’s dedication to her school and community.  Taylor has been a student assistant in Ms. Jones middle school health class. She helps younger students during her only free period of the day willingly. The middle school students are excited when Taylor is in their classroom. They look up to her as a positive role model and someone who has made a difference in their school life.
 
Taylor excels in the classroom with a 3.760 GPA. She is a member of the EGHS National Honor Society. Taylor has also been a two sport Varsity Student Athlete. She is a member of both the Girls Varsity Soccer and Softball teams at EGHS. Taylor’s dedication and compassion sets her apart from her fellow students. She loves helping people and will be pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy this fall at Ithaca College. She will continue to be a Student Athlete, representing Ithaca College Softball as a Bomber.
 
Joshua Bell is a senior at CREC Academy Aerospace and Engineering High School in Windsor.  He was sponsored by his educator Mr. Charlie Copeland. Joshua is the President of the student body, a member of the National Honor Society, was Captain of the Debate team, was Captain of the Model United Nations team, former Cadet Commander of the Royal Charter Composite Squadron in Hartford Connecticut, and a proud member of the Academy Aerospace and Engineering high school. Joshua has spent the last four years attending aerospace being involved in a multitude of advanced (AP) classes such as Calculus, English,  Statistics, World History and multiple other High Level courses. When Joshua is not in school he leverages his entrepreneurial background on the social media landscape selling products, services and training online. Speaking of entrepreneurship Joshua is looking forward to attend Babson University.
 
The Windsor/Windsor Locks Rotary Club serves the three communities of East Granby, Windsor and Windsor Locks.  Among its efforts the club awards scholarships to graduating seniors in those communities, supports local food banks, and recognizes high school students who are good students, as well as participants in community service, encouraging them to continue their commitment to community service. In recent years, the club has taken on a major project to package food for the food insecure.
